Bon Dance Parking
August 18
Assist with parking at Jodo Mission.
“I always enjoy helping out with the Jodo Mission Bon Dance because it’s a great opportunity to meet with members from other clubs while being active in a community event so close to school. The people are all so kind, and the food and entertainment really adds to the fun environment!”

"At the Jodo Mission of Hawaii parking event, I helped to direct cars to specific parking spaces and made sure that there were no pedestrians in the road when cars came out of the parking lot. I had to learn how to be organized and to stay on top of what I was doing, because if I didn't, then cars wouldn't be able to get out of the parking lot. I also had to work on social skills, because I had to learn how to efficiently move people out of the way while still being polite. " - Jamie Seu
"At the Jodo Mission of Hawaii Parking event, we helped out by helping designate people where they can park for the Bon dance. We worked in teams and needed to be able to communicate how many stalls were still available and all the drivers were very kind and thankful towards us."
- Julia Kuba
"Our job at Jodo Mission of Hawaii was to give directions for the parking, and to make sure everything ran smoothly. We had to be observant of the cars and the walkie-talkie we were given, and address the minor things that wouldn’t allow the event to run smoothly. While most of the ‘minor things’ were parking-related, there were other things that we were able to help out with, including setting up a table where people could buy things related to the Obon Festival. Overall, it was interesting to see how many little details were involved in the festival. It was rewarding to be a part of the mission, and see the Obon festival take place."

Family Sunday
August 20
Worked with children making little scenes, waited tables at the cafe and greeted people at the door. Join us every month!
“This month for Family Sunday we created little cities with paper cutouts and small boxes. For the first time I was able to also help in the café and make drinks for customers. I always love volunteering for Family Sunday because they have fun activities and it is a great way to volunteer in the community. I would definitely recommend to fellow Key Clubbers!”
